In October of 2023, Dr. Jean Rhodes attended the 16th Annual Mentoring Conference, hosted by the Mentoring Institute at the University of New Mexico, as a Plenary Session speaker. The conference’s theme was Mentoring Networks: The Impact of Developmental Relationships on the Future of Work.
Dr. Rhodes presented on supportive accountability, which hold promise for improving outcomes for youth and young adults by leveraging the encouragement and accountability from a supportive individual. Her session, titled Supportive Accountability Mentoring: A New Model of Improving Connections and Outcomes, discussed how mentoring relationships can pull from supportive accountability models, and provided insights on how mentoring programs can incorporate such practices. She also discussed a technology-enhanced tool that can help facilitate supportive accountability models for young adult mentoring programs.
